FLEXIBLE WORK ARRANGEMENTS


Flexible work arrangements may be adopted as one of the coping mechanisms and remedial measures in times of economic difficulties and national emergencies. Adoption of flexible work arrangements is considered as a better alternative than the outright termination of the services of the employees or the total closure of the establishment (Dept. Advisory No. 02-09). Further, it may also be adopted in order to improve business competitiveness and productivity and give employers and employees flexibility in fixing hours of work compatible with business requirements and the employees’ need for balanced work life (Department Advisory 04 Series of 2010).

DOLE-AKAP for OFWs


The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has launched “DOLE-AKAP for OFWs” which provides financial assistance to displaced Land-based and Sea-based Filipino workers due to coronavirus diseases (COVID-19). This is a one- time assistance of USD200.00 or PHP10,000.00 or its equivalent to the local currency of the host country. In this light, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) has accepted online applications since Monday, 13 April 2020.

Who Should Bear The Cost Of Covid-19 Prevention And Control Measures In the Workplace?


On 18 May 2020, the Department of Labor and Employment issued Labor Advisory No. 18 Series of 2020 to provide guidelines on who should bear the cost of COVID-19 prevention and control measures in the workplace.

Interim Rehabilitation Support to Cushion Unfavorably-affected Enterprises by COVID-19 or I-RESCUE Lending Program


Land Bank of the Philippines, a government financial institution, is offering a lending program to aid small and medium enterprises (SMEs), microfinance institutions (MFIs) and cooperatives recover from the adverse effects of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis. The Interim Rehabilitation Support to Cushion Unfavorably-affected Enterprises by COVID-19 or I-RESCUE Lending Program launched by Land Bank is in support of Republic Act No. 11469 or the “Bayanihan to Heal as One Act”. It aims to provide additional funds and loan restructuring under more flexible terms and conditions to eligible borrowers. The I-RESCUE Lending Program will be available until December 31, 2020.
